My course, on Adolescent Literature and the New Literacies is beginning to take shape, based on the principles modeled for us in this course and in the articles. My biggest challenge thus far is in managing information overload, simplifying written instructions by providing a narrative & visual, and chunking information.

beginnings
I am just beginning my journey in using best practices in technology education to create an on-line course. After reading some of the articles, I see there is much to learn and to explore. Primarily I am able to grasp the intent by practicing the techniques described. It is difficult to change after a lifetime of teaching in a face to face manner, but the challenge is made easier by scaffolded understandings found within the readings. What excites me is that this new way of teaching is really all about new ways of communicating information to students, new ways of providing feedback and developing the ability to foster interaction between students and student-faculty (Lewis, C.C. & Abdul-Hamid, H., 2006).
